CHELSEA LINKED WITH BRAZILIAN ACE
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Atletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes according to reports. The midfielder has impressed at the Brazilian club and was one of the best players in the 3-0 defeat of Argentine giants Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores.
‘the London club was banned by FIFA in February for two transfer windows after falling short of FIFA statutes on transfers. Guimaraes is believed to have attracted attention from AC Milan, Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk and Inter Milan. the 21-year-old has a release clause of €40 million and the Blues could be looking to trigger the clause.
Guimaraes is known for his excellent positioning, ability to pass under pressure and would be an ideal fit for Sarriball. He can be a good deputy for Jorginho and relieve some of the pressure on the Italian. Sarri has made no secret of his intent to add an extra midfielder since the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Monaco in January.
Guimaraes would be an excellent signing for the club as he is young and can still develop in the role. Chelsea are still looking at signing Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal from Real Madrid but the midfielder would cost around €55million.
Guimaraes is a cheaper option and offers more than the 25 years old Croatia international. Chelsea are currently preparing for their tie against Slavia Prague as they look to make the Semifinals of the Europa League. The Stamford Bridge club currently sits third in the EPL after their 2-0 win over London rivals West Ham on Monday.
