José Mourinho confirm return of Carlos in Squad
After spending time on the sidelines for the last few weeks, Chelsea boss José Mourinho has confirmed that midfielder Cesc Fabregas will be back in the squad for the match against Everton.
Roberto Martinez’ may have changed the style of football at Everton, but they still make themselves extremely hard to beat away from home. The match between the two teams last season at Stamford Bridge was only narrowly won with a late header from John Terry. Mourinho has been without Fabregas for the last few matches after the Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury in the League Cup match against Liverpool.
Since Everton are expected to be very narrow and defensive in their approach, Chelsea will need their master passer in the form of Fabregas. The 27-year-old already leads the assists chart with 15, which is almost double that of the nearest competitor.
After missing the last two matches, Mourinho says that Fabregas may be involved – at least from the bench – against Everton. The squad is not at 100% since a couple of players like Fabregas and Willian have been suffering from niggling injuries. The return of Ramires, who looked brilliant in the matches against Liverpool, is a major boost for Mourinho at this time.
“I think he plays on Wednesday because on Saturday it was a decision to protect him.We didn’t want to risk two players at the same time.We risked Willian and to start two players with a risk is a big gamble. The best Ramires is back and the best Ramires played against Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa. He is a different profile of player but a fantastic player for us,” said Mourinho ahead of the match against Everton. Martinez has failed to reproduce the form of last season and Everton are only a couple of points above the relegation zone.
