Fabregas Still an Arsenal Fan
Despite moving to Barcelona after ending an eight-year stay with Arsenal, Cesc Fabregas seems to be extremely close to Arsenal. He has always said that he would be maintaining a close affinity with the club and he truly has kept his words. One of the main things Arsenal have been lacking in recent seasons has been a trophy. They simply have not been able to win a trophy since moving to the new Emirates Stadium. Cesc Fabregas was part of the Arsenal side that came close to winning many trophies, but ended up winning nothing. After moving to Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas won two trophies immediately. No, he says that he is hoping that Arsenal would be winning trophies in the future.
Fabregas has also said that one of his long-standing wishes is to see Arsenal end their long six-year wait for a trophy. The last trophy that Arsenal won was in 2005 (the FA Cup victory over Manchester United, in which Patrick Vieira scored the winning penalty). Whilst the victory will forever be remembered by the Arsenal supporters, Cesc hopes for more trophies in the next few years.
Cesc Fabregas was one of the few players who had managed to lift the trophy during his time as Arsenal captain, in recent seasons and now wants someone else to lead them to glory. Speaking to Sky Sports, Fabregas said “I still support Arsenal, even though I’m now at Barca. I’ve been extremely lucky because I’ve been able to watch nearly every game. They started the season lacking in confidence but it now looks like they are playing well and scoring goals. They play great football, so as a Gunners fan I believe they can win thisngs.”
Even though Arsenal have not made any major signings this summer, they recovered sufficiently from their poor start to the season to be in a position to challenge for trophies this season.
