The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he expects the former midfielder Cesc Fabregas to return to the club one day. The 25-year-old recently joined Barcelona in a £ 35 million deal after spending eight seasons at Arsenal. Fabregas had made no secret of the fact that he had a lot of love for his boyhood club Barcelona, from whom Arsenal managed to secure his signature for around £ 2 million as a 16-year-old. During his time at Arsenal, Fabregas won very little but he has already managed to lift several trophies since joining Barcelona.
Fabregas is a player who regards both Arsenal and Barcelona in the same breath. As a result, Wenger thinks that the player will be making that return to the club in four years time. Since the departure of Fabregas, many top players like Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie, and Alex Song have departed the club. It remains to be seen if Fabregas will want to come to Arsenal, who have a very little chance of winning in the trophy in the near future. The club has not managed to win a single trophy since the 2005 FA Cup victory. Almost no player from the squad of that season survives now.
“I’m not convinced Fabregas won’t come back here one day. He’s an Arsenal man. He loves Arsenal. He watches every Arsenal game. Barcelona was his home town where he grew up and you have to accept this, especially as Barcelona are the best team in the world. He won’t return in the next two or three years but, after that, maybe. It was the tipping point for me. It’s important that we have some consistency. If they are ingrained with Arsenal, it is easier to keep them,” said Arsene Wenger, whose team sit outside the top four.
The manager of Barcelona, Tito Vilanova, has hailed Lionel Messi for his attitude towards the game. Talking to the reporters ahead of Barcelona’s Copa Del Rey match against Cordoba, Vilanova said, “The most incredible quality of Messi is his disciplined attitude. Even after achieving so much, he still has his feet grounded. He still works very hard on his game and always wants to learn new things.”
“When players go through such a purple patch, they tend to relax and start thinking that they can afford to miss a training session or two. But, Messi is not like that.”
“His approach on the field is also appreciable. His energy level remains the same either he is playing against a weak team or a strong team. He always remains motivated and that’s a great quality to have.”
When asked about the 11 point lead that Barcelona currently has over its arch rivals Real Madrid, Vilanova said, “We all know that Real Madrid is a very dangerous team and they will keep fighting till the very end. Currently, they are behind us, but, they can still catch up if we lose the momentum.”
“All the senior players of the team have been in good form and they have been delivering since the start of the season. But, we can’t win all the games that we will play. There might come a phase where we lose a few games. So, we need to be prepared for it.”
When asked about the match against Cordoba, Vilanova said, “We can’t afford to take them lightly. I know that people are expecting us to win this game easily, but, I don’t think it is going to be that easy for us. They have got some good players in their squad and they are capable of surprising us. So, we need to be careful against them.”
The midfielder of Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas, has said that the fragile defense of Barca is definitely a matter of concern for the team management. Barcelona had conceded four goals in its last La Liga match against Deportivo La Coruna.
In spite of conceding four goals, Barca managed to win the match by 5-4. Lionel Messi scored 3 goals for Barcelona in that match. Tito Vilanova’s team has not lost even a single match in La Liga in the ongoing season so far. But, Fabregas thinks that the inconsistency of the defenders might prove to be costly for the team in the further matches.
Barcelona will take on Celtic in a Champions League match on Tuesday. Talking to the reporters ahead of that match, Fabregas said, “The defenders haven’t been in the greatest of forms in the last few matches and that is a worrying factor for us.”
“The performance of the defenders was way below par in the match against Deportivo. Fortunately, we managed to pull off the victory in that match because of some fantastic striking by Lionel Messi, but, we can’t afford to make such defensive mistakes against the stronger sides.”
When asked about the upcoming match against Celtic, Fabregas said, “That would be a tough match for us. They have been playing well of late and there are some quality players in their team. We will have to be at the top of our game on Tuesday.”
When asked about Lionel Messi who has already scored 15 goals in the season so far, Fabregas said, “He has been in top form right from the beginning of the season and he has contributed in almost every match that we have played in the ongoing season. I haven’t seen a better soccer player than him in my career. It’s an honour for me to play alongside him.”
The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said that he is not happy with his bit part role at the club this season, but has said that he will not be leaving the club under any circumstances. Cesc Fabregas signed from Barcelona for £ 35 million last season and he was a first-team regular under Guardiola. Even though Fabregas was not as successful as he would have hoped in his first season at the club, the former Arsenal midfielder would have been looking to settle at the club this season. However, the new manager Tito Vilanova has largely used to him as a substitute in the first few matches of the campaign.
This has been causing a lot of unrest within the Fabregas camp after the midfielder recently claimed that he was not happy with his role as a substitute within the club. Barcelona have one of the strongest midfield amongst any club in the world. Hence, it is difficult for any player to replace the likes of Iniesta and Xavi on a regular basis. Fabregas acknowledges this, but has said that he is not happy with his role at the moment. Despite this, the 25-year-old has confirmed that he will not be leaving the club at any stage.
“There’s no such thing as a great substitute in the world of football – I couldn’t tell you what makes a great substitute. I always wish my team-mates well and put a happy face on. If I have to take my unhappy face home then so be it, but I would never let my team-mates or manager see it. I’ve always said that I play for the best team in the world, but I came here to compete, to learn and enjoy, not to sit wracking my brains,” said Cesc Fabregas in a recent interview.
Cesc Fabregas has said that his former club Arsenal has done the right thing by investing in his countryman Santi Cazorla. Arsenal has bought Cazorla from Malaga just a few days ago. However, the transfer fee was not revealed by either of the clubs, but, it is rumoured to be around 15 million pounds. Fabregas, who had joined Barcelona after leaving Arsenal in the previous season, said that Cazorla has got special abilities and his inclusion would definitely strengthen the Arsenal squad.
Fabregas said that he can never forget his tenure at Arsenal. This club is very close to his heart. As per Fabregas, even after joining Barcelona, he follows Arsenal matches regularly. He also praised the manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, for signing some good players this summer. Apart from Cazorla, Wenger has also signed Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski this summer. On being asked about the reason which prompted him to leave Arsenal last summer, Fabregas said that he wanted to play in the La Liga and that was one of the biggest reasons to join Barcelona. It is the best league in the world and not every player gets a chance to play in La Liga.
The Spanish superstar admitted that his performance in the last season was not up to his potential. As per Fabregas, he didn’t contribute enough for the team in the last season and he is determined to do well this time around. Fabregas’ performance has been decent in the pre season matches, but, he is still not looking at his best. On being asked about that, Fabregas said that the pre season matches are important from the fitness point of view and the form of a player should not be judged according to his performance in the pre season matches. At times, the players don’t give their 100% in these pre season matches. It is important how you perform in the league. If you play well in the league, nobody would remember your performance in the pre season matches.
