GOOD SIGNING
Cesc Fabregas has said that his former club Arsenal has done the right thing by investing in his countryman Santi Cazorla. Arsenal has bought Cazorla from Malaga just a few days ago. However, the transfer fee was not revealed by either of the clubs, but, it is rumoured to be around 15 million pounds. Fabregas, who had joined Barcelona after leaving Arsenal in the previous season, said that Cazorla has got special abilities and his inclusion would definitely strengthen the Arsenal squad.
Fabregas said that he can never forget his tenure at Arsenal. This club is very close to his heart. As per Fabregas, even after joining Barcelona, he follows Arsenal matches regularly. He also praised the manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, for signing some good players this summer. Apart from Cazorla, Wenger has also signed Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski this summer. On being asked about the reason which prompted him to leave Arsenal last summer, Fabregas said that he wanted to play in the La Liga and that was one of the biggest reasons to join Barcelona. It is the best league in the world and not every player gets a chance to play in La Liga.
The Spanish superstar admitted that his performance in the last season was not up to his potential. As per Fabregas, he didn’t contribute enough for the team in the last season and he is determined to do well this time around. Fabregas’ performance has been decent in the pre season matches, but, he is still not looking at his best. On being asked about that, Fabregas said that the pre season matches are important from the fitness point of view and the form of a player should not be judged according to his performance in the pre season matches. At times, the players don’t give their 100% in these pre season matches. It is important how you perform in the league. If you play well in the league, nobody would remember your performance in the pre season matches.
