DEFENCE IS AN ISSUE
The midfielder of Barcelona, Cesc Fabregas, has said that the fragile defense of Barca is definitely a matter of concern for the team management. Barcelona had conceded four goals in its last La Liga match against Deportivo La Coruna.
In spite of conceding four goals, Barca managed to win the match by 5-4. Lionel Messi scored 3 goals for Barcelona in that match. Tito Vilanova’s team has not lost even a single match in La Liga in the ongoing season so far. But, Fabregas thinks that the inconsistency of the defenders might prove to be costly for the team in the further matches.
Barcelona will take on Celtic in a Champions League match on Tuesday. Talking to the reporters ahead of that match, Fabregas said, “The defenders haven’t been in the greatest of forms in the last few matches and that is a worrying factor for us.”
“The performance of the defenders was way below par in the match against Deportivo. Fortunately, we managed to pull off the victory in that match because of some fantastic striking by Lionel Messi, but, we can’t afford to make such defensive mistakes against the stronger sides.”
When asked about the upcoming match against Celtic, Fabregas said, “That would be a tough match for us. They have been playing well of late and there are some quality players in their team. We will have to be at the top of our game on Tuesday.”
When asked about Lionel Messi who has already scored 15 goals in the season so far, Fabregas said, “He has been in top form right from the beginning of the season and he has contributed in almost every match that we have played in the ongoing season. I haven’t seen a better soccer player than him in my career. It’s an honour for me to play alongside him.”
